Insights

As a real estate agent I had ample opportunity to speak with buyers and sellers regarding their experience and concerns. Buyers consistently spoke of their dissatisfaction with imagery provided to represent the home of interest. Sellers often spoke of accessing distant buyers to increase the speed and likelihood of a sale.

My research lead me to a clear solution, 3D Virtual Tours. The solution was created by Matterport and was a complete package allowing for simple and rapid deployment.

A competitive audit revealed that there were no other Matterport service offerings in the local market. I would be the first in the state of New Hampshire. I designed my pricing model based on distant vendors in similar markets.

I utilized the business model canvas to help map out my strategy. It was clear that partnering with real estate agents and brokerages was key to market adoption. Effort would also need to be put into educating sellers on the value of 3D virtual tours which in turn would allow agents to adapt 3D to their listing package.

Implementation

I started with building a clean and informative website aligned with a bold yet simple brand mark. This gave potential customers somewhere to check-in and learn more about the value of 3D virtual tours.

Following that came the dirty work. I hit every brokerage office within 50 miles of my home to sell the value of 3D virtual tours. The effort was grueling but yielded positive results. Brokerages often host vendor events where you can pitch your service. These proved vital in bringing agent partners on-board.

As more business rolled in a process was then designed to most efficiently book an appointment, capture the home, and deliver the final 3d tour to agents.

Outcome

With relentless efforts put forth over a year to get this business off the ground the market started to see its value. Agents began calling for all their high-end listings and I was taking on larger projects for restaurants, hotels, and Universities. I was able to step away from my roll as a real estate agent and call myself a true entrepreneur. I was generating a sustainable income and learning something new everyday.
